Alice Vieira de Sousa was our grand-aunt and she was a self-made woman. In her time she took care of the different quintas and wines. She was also a teacher and to remember we developed a label based on her old school records and the first letter of her name: ALICE.
This is a young red full of freshness and fruit.
The harvest was great in the vineyard with good levels of rainfall in the winter and a relatively dry growing season, hence the low level of precipitation meant disease incidence was low; a relatively early veraison in July led to an early harvest in September.
The grapes were hand-picked and specially selected into cases of 25 kg. They were de-stemmed and the fermentation took place in stainless steel vats with 8 to 15 days of skin maceration. It was bottled in September and it is ready to be consumed.
Red young colour, very expressive in the aroma, with red fruit together with a fresh balsamic profile.
