Alice Vieira de Sousa Red Reserve 2014

Alice Vieira de Sousa was our grand-aunt and she was a self-made woman. In her time she took care of the different quintas and wines. She was also a teacher and to remember we developed a label based on her old school records and the first letter of her name: ALICE.
This is a young red full of freshness and power.. Well-balanced, smooth and a long finish.

Vinification

The harvest of 2014 had good quality grapes, especially before the rain in September. We started in the beginning of September to keep the good levels of acidity and freshness of the grapes.
The grapes were hand-picked and specially selected into cases of 25 kg. They were de-stemmed and the fermentation took place in stainless steel vats with 8 to 15 days of skin maceration. After aged in used French oak barrels for a short period. It was bottled in September of 2016. It ready to be consumed but benefits of time in bottle also.

Tasting Notes

Red colour, very expressive in the aroma, with red fruit together with a fresh balsamic profile. It has a very long body, more concentrated than the harvest before.
